Mental Health First Aid Training

Workshop Information:
1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health problem in any given year. That means that every
person is likely to know someone who is experiencing a mental health problem, whether that is a family
member, a friend, colleague, or student. In fact, mental illness is now said to affect every Australian
either directly or indirectly.

This is where Mental Health First Aid training can help.

In this workshop, you will:
Learn how to assist adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an
existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is
received, or the crisis resolves.

Mental Health First Aid training aims to improve mental health literacy as well as the ability to be an
effective first responder when supporting someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Improve your knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate mental health first
    aid strategies.
  • Feel confident in providing mental health first aid to a person experiencing a mental health
    problem.
  • Learn how to recognise, assess and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem
    or mental health crisis.
  • Receive a nationally recognised certificate as a Mental Health First Aider, provided by
    Mental Health First Aid Australia.
