The Early Career Researcher (ECR) Development Program was offered from 2007 - 2021 and was aimed at academic staff in the early stages of their research careers, seeking opportunities for strategic career planning and skill development in the area of academic research.
Early Career Researchers for the purposes of this program were those who are within five years of the start of their research careers. This normally means they have been awarded a doctorate within the previous five years. Researchers whose doctorate was awarded more than five years ago, but whose opportunity for research has been interrupted, may still be eligible. Research career interruptions could include non-research employment, illness, or family and career responsibilities.
Participants were selected annually to participate in the program based on a nomination and application process. Participants were expected to attend a series of sessions on a range of topics, engage in discussions with experienced researchers, and received individual mentoring on establishing a successful academic career.
