The University Chemical Advisory Safety Committee (UCASC) provides chemical management leadership to the University community and strategic advice to the University Safety and Wellbeing Committee and Research Leadership Committee regarding the development and effective administration of chemical management systems and processes.
Members from Academic and Research Units where hazardous chemicals and engineered or manufactured nanomaterials are used, are represented on the committee. UCASC is committed to supporting the overall governance of chemical management activities, providing expert advice to the University Chemical Safety Officer and overseeing the continuous improvement of chemicals management throughout the University.
All university use of hazardous chemicals and engineered nanomaterials meeting specified criteria must receive Chemical Hazards Approval from the Committee.
