First Responders are members of the UniSA community who, as part of their substantive role, are a first point of contact for anyone who has been subjected to sexual assault or sexual harassment. First Responders are trained to provide information on the support services and disclosing and reporting options available to students or staff who have been subjected to sexual assault or sexual harassment.
First Responders understand that disclosing or reporting sexual assault or sexual harassment can be difficult and they are expected to listen to the person’s concerns without judgement and to guide them to the right information and support services which best meet their needs. They will respect the person’s right to choose which services and support options they want to access and whether to make a disclosure or report to the university or the police. This training provides staff with the information and resources needed to understand their role and responsibilities as First Responders.
This training is available to all Designated First Responders. For further information or support, please contact People & Organisational Development.
Please note: these courses are found under the ‘other’ category when searching on myHR. If your workshop is virtual (via Zoom) you will receive an additional communication from us with the link to connect 3-5 business days prior to the session.
