Software Center Installations

If the software is free or the university has purchased site-wide licensing there will be a number of software already available for staff use in the Software Center application - which you are welcome to look through and install if desired.

If the desired software is not there then you will need to complete a Software License Application (SLA) form first. Once the IT Help Desk has advised you that you have been granted a license, 24 hours later you will be able to follow the below:

  1. Click on the Start icon & search for the Software Center desktop app.
  2. Click Software Center

  3. Under Applications find desired software or search for it in the top right corner

  4. Click desired software
  5. Click Install

  6. The device will go through the install process and will advise if/when your device needs to be restarted
    NOTE: Not all software requires a restart, but if it does the system will ask if this is okay and will not do it automatically.

  7. Once the installation is complete there will either be a pop-up advising you need to restart, which you will need to do at your earliest convenience. Otherwise, the system will advise once installed
