Using Printers on campus

It is possible to print from a range of devices across the University. These can be either a Personally Owned Device (POD) or university owned devices such as a desktop, laptop or tablet.

The Follow-You-Print-Q allows you to collect your print jobs from any printer located on any campus. They are held in the print queue for 8 hours and then deleted (no charge) if not collected.

Standard access printers have only A4 and A3 paper available, some units may have specialised printers available within their unit, you will need to check with your Course Coordinator and/or unit.

Yes. Whatever device you use to print from you will need a UniSA username and password to access a UniSA Printer on any campus (scan and copy included).

You can also use your ID card (staff or student) to log onto the UniSA Printers to collect printouts or scan.

View the Quick Guide for the basics of how to Print Release, Scan to Email or Copy on UNISA Printers.

Please select your operating system/device from below:

It is not necessary to delete unwanted jobs from the queue as they will delete after 8 hours, alternatively you can use the incremental print release feature directly from the printer, to release and delete jobs as required.

Step-by-step instructions (including screenshots) can be found on the how to delete or manage Follow-You Print jobs page.

If you are copying or scanning, you should log out as soon as you finish.

If you are collecting printouts, you can log out as soon as the first document starts printing (no need to wait until they finish).

If you forget to log out you will automatically be logged out after approximately 1 minute or when the next user logs on. However, it is your responsibility to log yourself off, to reduce the chance of the next user copying and using your printing allowance. No refunds will be applied if you don't log off.

UniSA pool/barn PCs default to the most cost effect output of:

  • Duplex (double-sided)
  • Black/White
  • A4 paper size

You can change your output by going into Printer Properties after your select your printer and before clicking Print.

Yes. At the printer, you will be able to type in your UniSA user name and password to collect the printouts.

However, tapping your ID card on the printer is much faster and more convenient than typing in your credentials.

If you have lost your ID card you need to visit either Campus Security (for staff) or Campus Central (for students) to cancel your old card and receive a new one.

NOTE: If you have only just received your ID card as a newly enrolled student tap and go printing activation can take up to 48 hours. If you have received a replacement ID card it takes an additional 15 minutes for the tap and go to be active on your ID card.

If you need to print on different paper types from Follow-You-Print-Q, follow these steps.

  1. From the application goto File -> Print and select Printer Properties
  2. Goto Paper Select and press Tray 5 (Bypass) Settings
  3. Press YES on the popup warning
  4. Set Tray 5 (Bypass) to be Plain Paper, Press OK twice to get back to Printer Properties
  5. Check for other printer properties that could impact the print job, such as Color or 2 Sided Print for example.
  6. Goto the printer, locate the bypass tray and insert the required special paper type (be sure of the orientation if using A4 paper)
  7. Tap your ID card and Release the required print job
