How to change MFA from SMS to Okta Verify App?

• It is suggested to complete the change from SMS to the Okta Verify App from your computer web browser, due to the requirement to scan a QR Code with your phone during the setup.
• Download the Okta Verify App on the mobile device you wish to use for MFA

  • Don't have a smartphone: Contact the IT Helpdesk for further assistance.

1. On your computer goto the website https://unisa.okta.com
2. Sign-in with your UniSA username and password (SMS will be used to verify you)
   
   
3. Click on your name in the top right of the screen, and select Settings
   
4. In the section "Security Methods" click "Set Up" for Okta Verify
   
5. Click ‘Setup’ under the Okta Verify option

5. This will present you with a QR code you can scan on your mobile device
   
   
   
6. The Okta Verify app should now open on your mobile device
7. Continue through the Welcome and How it works page until you reach the Ways to Verify page. From this page, click the ‘Add Account’ button
   
   
   
8. Choose the account type as Organization
   
9. If prompted, allow the app access to your camera
   
   
   
10. Position the QR code inside the square on the App to scan the QR code and you will be taken to a page prompting you for push notifications. On this page, select ‘Allow’
    
    
    
11. If your phone prompts for app permissions to do this, select Allow
    
    
    
12. You will now be presented with a message saying that your account has been added advising that your phone is set up for MFA
