NVivo is a qualitative data analysis (QDA) computer software package produced by QSR International. It has been designed for qualitative researchers working with very rich text-based and/or multimedia information, where deep levels of analysis on small or large volumes of data are required.

The University has funded an Enterprise License Agreement with QSR for NVivo Plus. Under this license agreement NVivo can be used by any UniSA Staff or Students, including installation on personal devices.

Conditions apply for the use of University licensed software. These include:

  • NVivo is only to be used for teaching, administrative and non-commercial research purposes.
  • UniSA licensed software is not to be used for personal purposes and cannot be used for commercial gain.
  • Under no circumstances can application software or license activation keys be copied from the University software distribution server and taken off-site.
  • You are not to make copies of, loan or distribute UniSA licensed software to third parties.
  • UniSA licensed software is to be removed from home computer systems should the user leave the University.
  • UniSA licensed software is to be removed from home computer systems should the relevant license agreement expire, change or is discontinued.
  • You will read and abide by the license agreement(s) associated with this Software.

NVivo can be installed on your work computer (providing it is a Windows PC) via the Software Center. This is a self-install service whereby you are able to install certain applications yourself. Using this process NVivo will be activated automatically.

Apple users will need to complete the NVivo License Key form and then download the software from the QSR International website.
